Re: Anyone play Eve-Online? [MMO]
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Keep in mind that you won't qualify for lvl 2s until you've done some lvl 1 missions and raised your standing with various agents. [/ QUOTE ] This is the sticking point, farming standing. I've done dozens of mind-numbingly easy level 1 missions, but I stll can't find a level 2 agent I qualify for. My threshold of tolerance was passed. Yes, I've clicked around in show info for other agents in the same corp. That said, I don't quite understand the standing system, with all the various factions seen on the standings tab. And it's possible I should have been targeting some different agent, one with whom I had higher initial standing with. I'll give complexes a go. [/ QUOTE ] I hear your frustration, and I experienced the same early on until someone showed me how to search for agents in-game. Assuming you are in Caldari space, go to the "people and places" window, and type caldari in the search window. The results pop up, with Caldari Navy being one of the choices. Right click and show info, which should open up information on Caldari Navy, including all the agents in nearby regions, both available and unavailable. Scroll through the list, find a high quality lvl 1 agent if you don't qualify for any of the lvl 2s yet. It might require you to jump a few times but it's worth it. Also, pay attention to what type of agents you're dealing with. If you prefer the kill missions you want to go for command, security, internal security and surveilance, as they will offer less courier missions etc. Swede |

Also, you didn't say what search type? When I click on my standings, liked by, in character sheet, I have only four corps listed: Expert Distribution 0.36, CONCORD 0.13, CBD Corporation 0.07, Royal Amarr Institute 0.07. The first one is the one I did most of the missions with. If I've gone a dozen missions, and I'm only 0.36, getting to 1.0 seems like more tedium than is acceptable. |

Re: Anyone play Eve-Online? [MMO]
Finished the tutorial, reread this thread, realized my character sucked and started over. Went through the tutorial again, did the first couple missions with my home agent, got a new agent. First mission: Go attack a convoy protected by like seven NPCs. I didn't win.

Re: Anyone play Eve-Online? [MMO]
[ QUOTE ]
First mission: Go attack a convoy protected by like seven NPCs. I didn't win. [/ QUOTE ] There are several ways to go about these missions. And heading in to take 'em all on at once isn't the safest way. At first, I used to warp in, try to shoot up one of them, and warp out immediately to repair at some station and warp back in. Rinse, repeat until you're done. The difficult part is to warp out in time, and a bit of lag can leave you in your pod. Also, it does cost a bit for all those repairs. The way I go about it now is to try and drag a few of them out (I usually end up with all of them chasing me anyway), and then try to get as few of them as possible in firing range. Pay attention to the infantries (typically, there's only one of them around), they've got a nasty range and an even worse punch once they're close enough. You could try to take out the infantry using the warp in/warp out/repair method, and then have less troubles picking off the rest. Once you've got enough distance, let the closest ships catch up just enough so you're in firing range with missiles and pick'em off one by one. Make sure you've got repairers/shield boosters to repair while you're at a safe distance before letting the next ship(s) catch up. Needless to say, this only works if you're faster than the mobs. If you're missing some speed, grab an afterburner. Theoretically, you could also just drag out all the fighting ships, and pull them far off the transports (like 100km or more) and then warp out and back in again to finish off the transporters while the defending ships aren't around. This should complete the mission, too, but you're missing out on the bounties and loot from the fighters. |

Armor & Shield Tanking
To all the Eve-Online veterans,
Is Armor or Shield tanking or a combination of the two the best way to go? Also, does racial type or ship type influence that decision? |
