Re: For all you kids out there - the dangers of slowplaying top set
Why raise the river here? I suspect he has the flush, if he does he beats me, if he doesn't he folds. I played this hand poorly on the turn and the flop but the river is fine in my own opinion.

Re: For all you kids out there - the dangers of slowplaying top set
Threadjack
So here is one where the guy against me slowplayed AA: .1/.25 Blinds, $25 eff stacks Villain is UTG Hero is in the CO Hero is dealt J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Villain Limps Hero raises to $1.25 (I was bullying the table at the time) 3 callers including Villain Flop: 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Villain Checks I bet $4 All fold except villain who calls Turn: T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Villain checks, I check behind River: K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Villain checks, I bet $5 and he goes AI, I call and he shows Aces and my flush runner runners him. I'm not saying I played this well, but he played this hand sooooo badly and immediately went on to yell obsenities in chat, called me a donk and left. Don't slow play aces, pre or post flop. If he bets out at all I'm out of the hand. |

Re: For all you kids out there - the dangers of slowplaying top set
I would have check the flop too, but with the turn card making a flush draw and villain betting, I would shift to defense mode right away. Then evaluate things come river.

Re: For all you kids out there - the dangers of slowplaying top set
I would have raised to .5 (4xBB + 1 per limp).
I really don't think a flop check is that bad since we have the board pretty much crippled. No matter what you need to raise that turn. |
