NL100 AA in the BB... blah
So I've been cruising these forums for a long time now and have yet to post anything. I was stoked to see the FR forum and have sort of been waiting for a particular hand to jump out at me to throw up here to check out my line.
This one is perfect... I've really been focusing as of late on my big pairs and really trying not to pay off sets when I get out flopped... ha... No read on villian... about 30 hands deep at table. PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $1.00 BB (9 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver) Hero ($100) UTG ($120.90) UTG+1 ($83.75) MP1 ($100) MP2 ($175.60) MP3 ($93) CO ($155.85) Button ($112.70) SB ($93) Preflop: Hero is BB with A, A. UTG calls $1, [color=#666666]4 folds</font>, CO calls $1, [color=#666666]2 folds</font>, [color=#CC3333]Hero raises to $6</font>, UTG calls $5, CO calls $5. Flop: ($18.50) K, 4, 7 [color=#0000FF](3 players)</font> [color=#CC3333]Hero bets $14</font>, UTG calls $14, CO folds. Turn: ($46.50) J [color=#0000FF](2 players)</font> Hero checks, [color=#CC3333]UTG bets $15</font>, Hero calls $15. River: ($76.50) Q [color=#0000FF](2 players)</font> Hero checks, [color=#CC3333]UTG bets $44</font>, Hero folds. Final Pot: $120.50 OK... so here's my thinking... UTG limp/calls. Generally a smallish pp or SC. His smooth call on the flop doesn't necessarily give me any additional info, but set/fd fits. Turn is brutal but I pick up the redraw vs. flopped set... c/c seems cool to go to river. I'm pretty sure I c/c almost any river UI, but the Q leaves me beating nothing but AK. So let me know whats good... it's all appreciated. |

Re: NL100 AA in the BB... blah
Ewww. That's tough.
I don't really see any problems here. Whether or not to play it different would really require a read to think the person could play so terribly out of line. But there's really so little you can beat there. I think its fine. What I'm pondering... if you remove the flush draw on the turn.... how does that change how we play the hand. Hard to justify folding an overpair getting those odds... but I'm not sure what we card we want to see on the river that's going to make us feel comfortable calling a large bet (without a player read) |

You ran into a tough spot but you definetly played this very well in my opinion. He's most likely got the set or flush but you saved some money by slowing down on the turn and folding the river.
