Re: 2006 - 2007 NBA Season Discussion Thread
I'm going with Mike Miller, simply because I can and he's not an MVP candidate.

Gerald Green != weak cast.
I dont know why they didnt just get Gerald, Rodney Carney, Josh Smith, and James White. |

Re: 2006 - 2007 NBA Season Discussion Thread
Gerald says he's got something that, if he pulls it off, will completely blow everyone's socks off. He's also taking suggestions via the Boston Globe.
Also, read that Dee Brown of blind dunk fame has some dunks that no one has ever seen, and he might give 'em to Gerald. Basically, if Gerald doesn't win this thing, I say ship him. The competition is too weak. |

Detroit is old Detroit again. The Eastern champion is going to be decided in the Heat/Pistons series again no matter which round it is.

Re: 2006 - 2007 NBA Season Discussion Thread
Webber looks like he found the right fit. East is still very weak. I can't imagine anyone from the East winning it all, maybe if the Western teams literally kill each other in the WCF then maybe, but otherwise, I'd expect the Suns or Mavs to win it all.
Since the trade, he's shot 58% from the field (wow) albeit with much less shots that he was taking as a 6er. He does need to work on his fts (58%). But he's averging around 7 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game. I know he probally isn't playing that great of D, but that's not what Detroit needs. The rest of their starting 5 is very solid with respect to that. |

I don't see it either, but that's what it looked like last year too. I'm not counting a team with Dwyane Wade out of anything.

[/ QUOTE ] True, and you can also point out that at this point last year Detroit was the class of the East and the Heat were a mere afterthought who would go on to win 52 games, which is among the lowest regular-season win totals for an eventual NBA champ. However, there seems to be a general malaise about this team, even though they've won five straight. They're still not to .500 and they don't have anything to prove while there are plenty of other teams in the EC that do - Detroit proving they're not over the hill, Chicago that their offseason moves and young talent is enough to win, Lebron that he can carry a bunch of stiffs on his back, and of course Gilbert Arenas. Furthermore, the argument could easily be made that Dallas lost the Finals more than Miami won it, and I doubt an improved Dallas with even deeper playoff experience is going to make that mistake again, should they get there. |
