Default Checks FROM poker sites

Has any 2+2'er received a check from Stars, FT, or UB and had their bank either refuse the deposit, or after depositing return the check to them?

If so would you please give details, specifically the reason the bank cited.

There's a lot of talk around about check clearing operations putting a stop to anything from a poker site, but has anyone here actually had this happen to them?

Thanks

Basically, no.

There was one confirmed occurrence of a pokersite check being turned down by a bank, but it was basically determined to be a combination of (1) a scruffy 2+2er and (2) the dumbest bank teller in the world.

And for the record, even the UIGA doesn't have any language around taking money out of poker sites. Its not addressed and under no interpretation is it illegal. Of course, that's not to say they're required to take them either, so anything possible.

I'd be interested to hear if anything changes or if there is a confirmed report. Thanks.

I received a check from Trident Poker last week and deposited it. I got a call and email from Trident today, copied below. My bank hit me with a $5 returned deposit charge, we'll see how this turns out.

Dear xxx,

We wish to inform you that due to unforeseen administrative issues with one of our processing banks, your recent winnings paid out by cheque of $395.78 should not be deposited in your bank account. The processing Banks will not honor this check.

Please email us to let us know if you already cashed this check in your bank account. If this check has been cashed and your bank charged you any fees, please send us a

statement showing the amount of the fee charged, we will reimburse you for this amount in addition to your withdrawal.

Once we receive your confirmation, our eCash provider will then credit your balance with the check amount plus any additional fees charges and you can then access your account and request a withdrawal (or play with the funds).

We will need to pay you via Direct Bank Transfer (ACH) or Click2Pay if you have an account with them, and as quickly as possible. We will email you as soon as your withdrawal has been refunded to your account, so that you can withdraw them again.

Please note that the ACH details you provide need to be for your own account, as we are unable to process via third parties. To enable us to process your winning to Click2Pay, you must have an active Click2Pay account.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us on any of the details below, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Thank you for your loyal support and patronage.

Regards,

Beverly

I just got the check returned from BoA, there's no mention of Chexx. The check was from Web Merchants LLC drawn against Bank of the West, Salt Lake City and the accompanying letter from the bank had the code for "refer to maker".

So are we to assume the "administrative issues" with their bank is they are no longer going to handle poker site checks?

I mean it sounds as if this poker site wants to return the money and now we have a situation where their bank cannot/will not process the check.

I know Stars says our money is safe with them. But I would like for Lee Jones or someone to come on here or issue an
e-mail explaining the process we are to withdraw funds by. It appears that a check is the only way, and if that disappears (because of my greedy elected officials) then what?

Yoss, keep us posted in this thread what happens please.

Thanks
