Recommend me a mutual find
Hi,
Currently I have about $9,250 in Vanguard funds, 44% of it in VGSTX (Vanguard Total International Stock Index Fund) and the remaining 56% in VGHEX (Vanguard Global Equity Fund). I am looking to add about $7,000 more, and would like advice on solid Vanguard funds. I am not too worried about risk, as I'm fairly young and won't need the money anytime soon. From what I've seen so far, VFINX (Vanguard's S&P 500 fund) is a good option, but I'd like some other options. Also, if you have any recommendations outside of Vanguard, I'd be glad to hear about them. Thanks! |

Re: Recommend me a mutual find
Vanguard is objectively better than trowe price and american.
You could just add the money to those currect funds. If you want to add some risk/return, you could put it in Vanguard's emerging markets fund. |

Re: Recommend me a mutual find
Vanguard's good, for their cost structure.
I'm not making any recommendations, per se, but if you are interested in staying in the Vanguard family, I've seen good performance by Vanguard Wellington (basically a large cap value fund), which has consistently outperformed its category by a couple percentage points over all significant time periods. Also, their LifeStrategy Growth Fund (VASGX) is worth a look. As a "life strategy" fund, it's a fund that invests in other Vanguard funds, to achieve the results of a balanced portfolio in a single fund. In fact, I note VASGX actually has some of its portfolio (around 15%) in Vanguard Total International Stock Index Fund. |

Re: Recommend me a mutual find
I would recommend eventually transfer your mutual funds to a stock account. You can buy closed-end funds on the exchanges.
Mutual funds have too many fees and rarely beat indexes. |

Re: Recommend me a mutual find
American funds by capital group have a track record that out-shines their NO-load counterparts.
If you don't care at all about risk... you might want to go with some emerging market type funds. |
