Tough spots with third nuts....Standard fold or call?
10 handed 5/10 nl at the Crown Casino with 2k buy in
I am sitting with 5k and villian is sitting with 4150. Villian is a good limit player who learning nl, and is a thinking player. 2 limpers, I limp with 89d, villan(button) limps, sb folds, bb(tightest player in the world) raises to 50, everyone calls (pot 255)PFlop TJQ, rainbow BB leads out 125, limpers fold, I make it 500, Villians think forever and pushes 3500 more, bb folds Who calls and who folds here? Some factor to considered here... 1) Villian said he was drawing dead when he call the 50 2) a 9 was a flash card before the flop 3) BB folds, so his likely hand is KK or AA here 4) While Villian was thinking, bb look likes he going to fold Standard fold or call? Re: Tough spots with third nuts....Standard fold or call?
With the cards shown and bb raising out of position i think it's safe to put him on a set. Shoving there is a typical limit-turned-nolimit player move from what ive seen at the Wynn. (There are some 30-60 players there that play 5-10 10-20 uncapped sometimes)

Re: Tough spots with third nuts....Standard fold or call?
well by what you've said happened preflop, i think its fair to say you have the second nuts (discounting AK with his comment. So it comes down to K9 which i guess is possible, but calling with that hand against the tightest player at the table? I dont think so. I would put him on QJ possibly 10 10, make the call and pray for some low rags

Re: Tough spots with third nuts....Standard fold or call?
K9 is just the kind of hand that would elicit a comment along the lines of that you are drawing dead. And hes definitely not folding it on the button, suited or not, after several calls in front of him. Since you didnt mention villain as super tight i think its safe to assume he raises TT-QQ preflop, and since he is a thinking player he isn't shoving 2pair here. And he sure as hell isnt bluffing 4000 to win about 700. Looks like K9, possibly 89 but doubtful given preflop comment. Fold.

I wouldn't discount AK either as he could've easily said that thinking BB had AA/KK a majority of the time with his descrption of how tight he was. |
