i dont think nord played it awfully (except for maybe preflop). you just got burned by a seriously [censored] river card (you do have to call though I think).

I don't know Nordberg and I would call but, really, there's not much we're beating here, is there. He has to have figured out that we have a pair > 88 by the river and that we are calling. Is he really going to push 99-TT here or play those hands this way?

Standard preflop raise + flop check + tiny turn raise = "he has to know we have an overpair"?

OK. Badly phrased. If it's a bluff, what's he bluffing us off?

He can be blocking a chop, as both players will play the board here pretty often.

Anyhow, if you're advocating folding JJ, then he should be betting lots of worse hands. {55, 44, 22} are among his likeliest holdings.

Fair enough - didn't consider the block chop. I wouldn't fold here and was obviously biased by the result - was just musing whether our JJ could be good here enough. I can see it is now.

I'd be very worried about JJ, don't get me wrong. I think you were on the right track with a lot of your thinking here, but I wanted to point out that some of the narrow hand-reading techniques don't really apply to this hand.
