Default California Grand: $20 gets you $50! Any Bay Area ppl play here?

Stumbled across an ad in the SF Chronicle for the California Grand Casino in Pacheco. They have a promo for first time players to get $50 in chips for $20 based on two hours of play?

Does anyone play here? How does this promo work? What limits do they have? How are the players? I usually play 6/12, but I'll play 3/6 for a free $30! Any input would be appreciated!

I did the promo. Its as easy as going to the cashier and giving them a $20 and the coupon. They will take your DL info, so you won't claim the bonus twice. My trip report is here.

I only played 3/6 there, and its the usual 7-to-a-flop fishfest. According to this link they spread 6/12 and 12/24 too, but I haven't sat in them.

What's the deal with the 2 hour playing time? Do they keep track with a player's card? That doesn't make sense, bc what if u go busto in 30 mins? Unless they give u the bonus AFTER you play for two hours?

They give you the money right away in chips and don't really watch how long you play in the game. All games are great there. They also spread a 2-2-3 NL with a $200 cap buyin.

Thanks! What about the Sunday tournament? Seems pretty good, I'd like to check that out too. It's $50 with 5 tables max and 10 places cash, according to the website. Plus the casino adds $500 to the prize pool.

Anyone have experience playing in this tourney? Thanks in advance!

You get the $50 right away, but you cannot cash in for 2 hours. If you go busto, no problem. They just want to make sure people are not coming in, taking the free money, cashing out and leaving.

If you think about it, it is a pretty good marketing idea to get new players in, and a cheap way to pick up some temporary props. I am surprised other rooms have not tried it.
