Re: $6.50 facing reraise with AK
I think 3betting committed you to calling this. I'd flat call the first time

Re: $6.50 facing reraise with AK
i think there saying flat calls better because not many people are willing to raise 5x bb with stuff like AA or KK so just flat and use your position post flop , u cant possibly be behind here
edit: i cant see anyone shuving AA or KK here , you want value for things like that , hes just defending his JJ QQ or AK AQ , just flat and ether catch and beat his QQ or split with his AK |

Re: $6.50 facing reraise with AK
I've seen this quite a few times early on with a low PP or Ace-crap. Highly unlikely they have AA or KK.
I'd cross my fingers and call the push. BTW, I don't like the idea of flat calling. You're giving BB to chance to hit his 2 pair or whatever with ATC. I suspect MP2 would've pushed irrespective or whether you raised or limped. |

You can't re-raise preflop and not call the push.

Re: $6.50 facing reraise with AK
Yeah I do like flat-calling here PF. Problem w/ 3-betting PF is assuming he just calls, you whiffed the flop and he bets at you, you gotta dump it. So flat-calling is cheaper in that respect. If it was a few levels later then shoving is fine but you're too deep here for that. So calling it is.
And also, saying that this isn't AA or KK here is crap. Many people would play AA/KK this way. I mean you're re-raising PF so you'd assume you're gunna be happy enough to get all the chips in PF so I'd shove if I was villian and had AA/KK rather than pussyfoot around and fancy play it and stuff yourself. Simple ABC poker is best in these levels. |

Re: $6.50 facing reraise with AK
I didn't mean it wouldn't mean AA or KK, I'm saying most of the time I have seen it, it has been a low PP or Ace-crap. Yes, you're right, I've also seen people play AA & QQ in the same way. You just have to decide which one you think it is.
Sorry for the misunderstanding. Either way, I still stand by my answer of closing my eyes, think of England, then hit call. |
