Top pair on draw heavy board vs. Donk and 2+2er
I think I misplayed this hand on every street and could use some feedback.
I have a fairly tight image and the big stack ($700) at a live $1/2 NYC room. I am in MP with A9o and call a $15 raise (mistake #1) from 2+2er (first pot we've played together). SB calls (he always calls). Flop is 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 2+2er bets $30 and I have him on 2 high cards and a continuation bet. Being in position I thought a call would suffice and we'd be HU. I was wrong and the SB called and 2+2er folded I put him on a flush draw since he had been calling bets on draws all night and folding the river when missed. Turn is an offsuit 8. 2+2er bets $60 and I make it $120. SB smooth calls and 2+2er folds. A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] is the river How should I have played the flop? The turn? The river? I know this hand was played pretty horribly. |

ehh yeah definitely fold preflop. Raise the flop, there are many scare cards that come on the turn. What does SB have left? I think I c/c.

Re: Top pair on draw heavy board vs. Donk and 2+2er
a few things i'm not quite sure about....
preflop seems borderline terrible. raise/fold with more weight to fold. reverse implied odds here. if you think 2per is c-betting then i prolly raise flop with SB still floatin round. if you think 2per is c-bettin the flop, are you just thinking he is double barreling here? this board is pretty scary for him to continue firing with nothing, no? unless you are trying to turn your hand into a bluff here repping the 7 i think i just call behind. on river a shove seems automatic. $435 in the pot and SB still hasn't lead out with his straight? not buyin it. you most likely sucked out on the river so it would be a shame not to atleast get value for it. -SB c/c all streets sounds like draw/2pair almost always with a small portion to something similiar to you..A9/K9/T9s... |

Re: Top pair on draw heavy board vs. Donk and 2+2er
I appreciate the feedback.
The preflop call was terrible I agree. At best I thought 2per had a pair with a back door draw. He would have read me to raise the flop with anything decent on a board like that, and I am sure he knew SB was weak too. So I do think he'd fire a 2nd barrel and try and win the pot there. |
