I actually just read The Biggest Game in Town which was published in 1983 and in that book a friendship between kaplan and Doyle is described. So it doesn't shock me that Doyle loaned him the cash.

I'm not sure your view of what most players on this forum would like to see is accurate. For example, Turning Stone is widely considered the best poker broadcast ever, and it was a real event (not made for TV) that showed every hand.

Regardless, it's pointless for us to speculate on what others would like when we can say for sure what we'd like to see. This televised poker consumer wants to see real poker, shown in a way that I can learn from.
