Moving up, cash money
For the last few weeks I've been CRUSHING the big play money games on Pokerstars and Bodog. I'm thinking about moving up to real money, since play money don't pay rent and don't score chicks.
But with the legislation and money transfer problems, is now a good time to start? Will I be able to get money out, etc. Or should I try playing in a casino (Foxwoods)? Also, I'm a heads up no limit specialist. What site has the best micro games for that? Thx in advance. |

Re: Moving up, cash money
The rake at a casino is almost unbearable. I definitely suggest loading money to UltimateBet if you can load about $1000 on, their nl50 HU tables are WEAAAAAAAK. I played there for a while and the only time I ever lost more than 1/5 buyin on a hand was when they sucked out with 2nd pair or something. They're so passive and dumb and it's just easy money.

Re: Moving up, cash money
is UBNL50 easier than the tables on FTP? I'm playing on FTP and I really like the software, but I think I could adjust myself to UB if it's easier to build a bankroll there.

Re: Moving up, cash money
I wouldn't say it's easier, it's probably about the same, but the fact that they have HU tables with a bunch of micro-stakes guys tilting off money daily - it makes it pretty profitable.

Re: Moving up, cash money
Swingmytool, if your are being serious, then I would recommend to start with the micro nl tables, building your bankroll. I started on the Pokerstars 5NL tables with 17$, that I made from selling playchips.
started buying in shortstacked with 2$, once I reached 50$ I started buying in max for 5$ and multitabling four 6-max tables. Build that to 200$, started playing 10NL, build that to 500$, started playing 25NL. Have made about 1000$ so far in 3 months. I recommend going this way cause it gives you the discipline, bankroll mngt etc.. Also, read the stickies and learn to play TAG game and grind it out. Good Luck |

Btw, from what you have said I doubt you are HU specialist, however I would not start to play HU Sng without the necessary cash game experience and the proper bankroll.

Re: Moving up, cash money
You have to be careful playing HU cash games- the rake is brutal, and can easily suck all the money off the table.

Re: Moving up, cash money
I think anybody who enjoys the game should play for real money. It's just a different game and you can select your stakes. I wouldn't quite deposit as little as the cleaner and play short stack (can be very profitable, but I'd hate to have to play short stack). I'd also wait with playing NL HU cash. I'd say deposit like 100 bucks and play NL 5 then build you're BR from there. Start low and get a feel for the game, try and see how good you really are before playing for higher stakes. Since these are micro stakes I suggest an aggresive BR management. Try NL 10 when you have 150$ (or earlier if you feel comfortable, I would go with 150 I think). Then play NL 5 if you drop down to 120. Repeat this as you climb up through the limits.
I think you can use whateva BR management you think is best for you, just remember to switch down when you're loosing. |
