Please tell me about Commerce

Commerce Casino is located in an industial town - Commerce. There are not may good places to stay or eat nearby. The neighborhood is dumpy and the parking sucks. Use valet. It's the only place I know of where partons have been mugged in the parking lot (the lot is so big and not well lit in some areas). I am sure it happens elsewhere, but I have only met people who have experienced this at Commerece.

The poker is good there. No other place has the variety of limits and number of Poker tables. Not even Vegas (yet).

Bad beat jackpot is cool, cause any Aces full beat by four of kind is a bad beat. Most other rooms require Aces full of tens or better. This means they have smaller jackpots, because it is hit more often.

The Bike (my prefence) is nearby. So is Hawaiian Gardens (big tent in a parking lot); down the 605 in the O.C. Crystal Park on 91/710, but no action there - mostly regulars. Gardena has Hustler (see Ted Forest and Barry Greenstein there often) and Normandie. Hustler has the best looking cocktail waitresses (IMHO).

If you want Vegas type action - drive out to the Inland Empire. San Manuel in Highland/San Bernardino, Morango in Cabazon, and Pechenga in Temecula. These are the all about 70 miles from L.A. In addtion to Poker, there are slots, etc.

Heh, Commerce clearly has the best security of any of the Los Angeles area poker rooms.

People have been shot at Hawaiian Gardens parking lot. People have been shot and killed in the Hollywood Park parking lot. My license plates got stolen at Hustler.

Nothing ever happened to me in the Commerce parking lot, nor to anyone I know of. Although tourney pro Chris Grigorian challenged me to go fight in the parking lot(a bazillion years ago at a $3-6LHE game no less).

There was a guy shot by the Sheriff's at Commerce right in front of the building a couple of months ago. It was NOT a gambling related incident. A guy being chased by the cops pulled in there trying (and failing) to get away.

Nonetheless, I feel safest at Commerce, particularly compared to HP. But admit that I haven't been to the Hustler. (Too **** far on that f'in 405 fwy.)
