If I want to cook a steak using the "sear in the pan, shove in the oven for a few minutes" method, will that ruin my non-stick pan?

[/ QUOTE ]
I think it depends on the pan. I have nice CalphalonOne pans, and their website says 500 is ok, as long as I'm not broiling. I'd be more hesitant with run-of-the-mill frypans.

I like to use paper plates and cups while cooking for faster clean up.

Cavender's greek seasoning, I can't cook without it.

Be extremely careful when handling meat and poultry especially around items being served raw like salad, onions etc. Salmonella will make you never want to cook again.

Best of Luck

It should be ok. But if it has a plastic handle, it might not. Check in the owners manual, or call the company.

Edit: If I'm going to make a pan sauce, I don't use non-stick for cooking meat. If you use a non-stick to cook meat in, you won't get as much fond (little bits of fat and juices) in the pan after cooking it. The fond adds tons of flavor to sauces, so you want lots of it.

According to wikipedia, anything over 460 is bad for teflon, and may produce small amounts of toxic gas. Probably nothing to be alarmed about, but, like I always say, why produce small amounts of toxic gas when you can a cast-iron pan for $10 that will do a better job anyways?
