10/20 4-handed, hero is semi short
Im posting this in msnl because you guys probably shortstack the bigger games more than the hsnl guys ?
Anyway, Im not even sure if this is a tough spot at all.. Villain is a 5/10 and 10/20nl regular, but I dont have many hands with him. Also ive only been at the table for a few orbits Texas Hold'em $20-$20 NL (Real Money), Seat 4: seat4 ($6,394.05 in chips) Seat 5: HERO ($1,109 in chips) Seat 7: VILLAIN ($1,736.50 in chips) Seat 9: seat9 ($1,818.95 in chips) ANTES/BLINDS Dealth to HERO: A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] HERO posts blind ($10), VILLAIN posts blind ($20). PRE-FLOP seat9 folds, seat4 folds, HERO bets $50, VILLAIN calls $40. FLOP K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] HERO checks, VILLAIN bets $77, HERO bets $200, VILLAIN calls $123. TURN 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] HERO bets $350, VILLAIN calls $350. RIVER 10 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Now with 499$ left is this always an easy push ? Or will c/c sometimes be better ? |

Re: 10/20 4-handed, hero is semi short
I agree with the way you played this hand to this point, however, despite the fact that the pot contains over twice your remaining stack, I would have to recommend the c/c on the grounds that there is only one hand that does not beat you that would fit your opponent's betting pattern (AK for a split pot). Let's face it - it's dubious enough for KQ to call a check raise on the flop, but to call a pot sized bet when led into on the turn is highly unlikely if your opponent is at all astute. Just in case your opponent is slowplaying K9, a set of 9's or 5's, I would hold back on the river push.

Easy easy push, he'll call with KQ/KJ if you bet but often check it if you check, he'll never bluff a missed flush draw, and you can't fold if he pushes cause pot is too big.
We've played together a bunch btw. |

Re: 10/20 4-handed, hero is semi short
I'd like to know where you play if you think an opponent of yours will call a preflop raise, call a check raise on the flop totaling nearly three times the original bet, call a (roughly) 3/4pot sized bet on the turn, and call a subsequent all-in on the river with top pair jack kicker. That sounds like a dream game. I am not used to seeing people follow this sort of betting pattern with less than top pair and top kicker. Had the villain played back at him, it may be more likely that he would have a weaker holding, but as it stands, it does not seem to me, regardless of the pot size, to be worth trying to squeeze out an extra bet assuming that your opponent has KJ/KQ and will call. This situation reeks of trappiness.

$90, $225, push
as played, c/cing would be awful vs almost any range I can think of. |

Even if we estimate hero to be good less than 50%, it can still be (and is) correct to bet it.
