Stars check \"Do you need the funds tomorrow?\"
I just went to my bank, 20 minutes before closing time. The woman teller was alone and handling a couple of phone calls as she waited on me.
I was depositing a $1,000 check just received from Stars. At one point she hung up the phone and asked me, "Do you need the funds by tomorrow?", hinting at the fact it would be easier for her if I didn't. "Uhm, no," I said, then, "I think it's an international check. It might take a week or two to clear." She glanced back down at it and flipped it over, trying to figure out what I meant. "Nope, this check is drawn on a US bank. Funds will be available to you day after tomorrow since it is coming in late today." Sweet. I love my bank. |

I can get cash during the same transaction....but then again, I keep a fairly high daily balance in my checking account and I've been a customer since 1997

They could easily still bounce the check after doing this. I have found that the first day they credit a partial sum to my account 1-2 days after deposit is the day i can be much more certain there are no problems with the check. |
