How many hands do you play per month?

If you played 50K hands per month for 12 months with 10 BB per 100 at $10/20, that would equate to $1.2 million, right? That would be 600K hands per year. So you play like 1 million hands per year to get that $2 million per year win rate? Or, do you win at a 20 BB/100 rate?

1. Hmm... I know nothing about audit's either. However, and I'm sure you'll appreciate this tendency as a law student, I'll yap about it anyway. I suspect that people who do the cayman thing are rich from things other than gambling and have other mechanisms in place to avoid paying their taxes in full (shell corps, whatnot). However, I just can't see someone buying a house and not getting some red flag raised. If you try to secure a loan, the bank will ask for some proof of income. If you try to buy your home in cash, and I mean real green cash, someone will freak out. There are already a diverse group of people employing a variety of schemes to avoid paying taxes. Internet poker players just seem like a different class of people.

2. Well, not exactly. I think this issue is best explained by the fact that most legislators are technological dunderheads. They can't really be blamed too much because they are old. The big difference is that if a state prohibits B&M casinos, none of the citizens will gamble at B&M casinos. I guess they think this is a good thing. The analogy doesn't quite extend to online poker. States can't ban it or do anything really to prevent their residents from playing.

3. Wow, we're really dorking out with the legal stuff. How many issues can you spot? However, I refuse to delve into any more of my old law outlines. Is it safe to say that we agree that from a real-world perspective, recieving damages for losses incurred from online gaming would be very, very difficult and unlikely. And probably expensive. But hey, don't let that stop you, what are lawyers for if not to take your money to pursue legal claims that have little chance of success. "I'm Larry H. Summes, and I'll fight for you!"

samoleus, I was EZBILLIONS when you were punketty. You can easily confirm your identity by simply replying with the running joke that we had between us. if this is you, you are a standup guy and a good player.
Peace,

Not that it makes a big difference but Sam did state he made 700K off of some tourney's. So technically it's 5.3 mil off of internet cash games.

I am a low limit player aspiring to become a reasonably solid player. Additionally, I also enjoy no limit, so samoleus' OP was particularly intriquing to me.

I don't mean to speak out of place since I am not in the same category of everyone else in this post yet I find what appears to be a significant contradiction among your posts:

OP - First, I have an outstanding engineering job (one of the best in the country at a premier think tank). I am loathe to give that up because if I do poker full-time for more than a couple of years, it will be nearly impossible for me to go back to this job - and to any cutting edge engineering job for that matter.

Later - The inherent difference between you and me might be that I do not obtain a tremendous amount of pleasure from my professional career. It is a job that is at times interesting, at times rewarding, at times frustrating, but never one that gets me excited.

Based upon the latter, unless you're concerned about losing your engineering knowledge and skills by leaving your full-time job, I gather you're not satisfied and therefore should do what seems to make you happy: poker.

Again, excuse me if I'm out-of-line.

IMO donating $2m would only make sense if you wanted to live a very modest lifestyle, not one involving another $2m spent on a home!

.

15 pages of this garbage and I get a post asking for an example of pot control deleted? Can someone at least point me to a forum where I should ask about it? Thanks.
