Could the government seize money?
In places like Washington where online gambling is a felony, and others where it is a misdemeanor, could the government seize the winnings? Could they take any money that they think is illegal income?

"No man's life, liberty, or property are safe while the legislature is in session."
Gideon J. Tucker (1866) or it seems, even when it's not. |

Re: Could the government seize money?
No question that Washington, with its law, could seize poker profits as "illegal gambling proceeds." That assumes Washington has a forfeiture statute covering illegally obtained money, which pretty much every state does.

Re: Could the government seize money?
Do you think Washington is serious when they say that the new law doesn't target the players? Will they eventually attempt to make an example out of somebody, or multiple players?

Is the OP question serious? [/ QUOTE ] While I totally agree that the government has lost their minds on the anti-gaming legislation, it is incredibly dense to use Iraq as an example in proving any thought concerning the legislation. No proof of wrongdoing??? Tell that to all the Iraqi men who are missing ears due to the mere rumor that they said something negative of Saddam...tell that to the Iraqis that were gassed by their own government...stick to things you know something about buddy or you will lose credibility on all subjects...as much as the media would have you believe we went over there and destroyed a country for no reason, nothing could be more false. We removed a torturing, murdering dictator and the majority of Iraqi's are pleased that we did...so keep your other political views on appropriate sites, this one is about poker!!! Can we please get back to talking about that??? |

Re: Could the government seize money?
I am providing false news??? If you haven't been over there then you are getting news second hand...I have been over there and have seen the positive response from the majority of iraqis regarding our presence.
However, the whole point of the post was to request to the OP that we keep poker in the poker forum...Iraq belongs someplace else. Lumping the Iraq war into the poker legislation is the same as the idiot republicans lumping the anti-gaming legislation into the port security bill. They just don't belong together. |
