Hand against Jaran @ 2p2 table
Anyone play it differently? We were playing serious when this hand occured... well at least I was..
Jaran, what did you have this hand since you didn't show? I can think of a bunch of hands what kill me. Poker Stars Limit Holdem Ring game Limit: $0.02/$0.04 10 players Converter Pre-flop: (10 players) Hero is CO with K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 6 folds, <font color="#cc0000">Hero raises</font>, 2 folds, BB calls. Flop: Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (4.5SB, 2 players) BB checks, <font color="#cc0000">Hero bets</font>, <font color="#cc0000">BB raises</font>, <font color="#cc0000">Hero 3-bets</font>, BB calls. Turn: 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (5.25BB, 2 players) BB checks, <font color="#cc0000">Hero bets</font>, <font color="#cc0000">BB raises</font>, Hero calls. River: A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (9.25BB, 2 players) <font color="#cc0000">BB bets</font>, Hero folds. Uncalled bets: 1BB returned to BB. Results: Final pot: 9.25BB |

Re: Hand against Jaran @ 2p2 table
i don't think that the river changes anything. if you were planning on calling a "blank" river, i think that you should call this river.
if you were planning to fold a lot of rivers, i think that you should fold on the turn. obviously he wants you to think that he has qj. whether you believe him or not depends on several factors, not the least of which is how he views you at the time. |

Re: Hand against Jaran @ 2p2 table
I think I play it the same.
call PF; c/r any flop is a fairly common blind defense line but c/r again on the turn looks bad for you (assuming he's playing str8) I think you can call the turn and re-eval the river but the ace on the river is ugly and I give it up. |

Very bad river play.
You will never know what he had. Check/call the river. |

BTW, just calling river bets against a TAG to just see what he had is plain bad and will cost you much monies!!! This of course is why we make so much money.... you know how many times I get paid off by weak PP or Ace high because of curiosity.. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA.... |

Re: Hand against Jaran @ 2p2 table
U went all the way to the river betting calling and calling to give up the hand cause of a scary card?
Let us say that you have a pot equity of 30% here with your KK , that is EV=(-1x0.6+9.25X0.3)=+2.1775 You should call But if you think you are far behind, let us say 10% of winning your EV=(-1X.9+9.25X.1)=+0.025 ...even there you should have called as your EV is positive. The pot size is far to big to fold at the river.....especially with KK...unless you think you had less then 10% of chance of winning. |

just calling river bets against a TAG to just see what he had is plain bad [/ QUOTE ] This is true. The nOOb's reasoning was off, but his conclusion is on: the pot's too big to fold the river. As Shadow points out, against Jaran the ace shouldn't really change your winning chances THAT much. When he c/r's the flop and turn I've got Jaran on QJ/77. He might've gone for the trifecta, but was afraid the ace would scare you out of betting. Either fold the turn or call the river. |

bravos,
I really dislike the flop 3-bet against a player like Jaran. |
