Default Buying a SWORD.

A friend of mine really wants a "cool" dagger/sword for her birthday.

I won't pretend any knowledge on this subject, but her and I both think the type of sword in Kill Bill is really freakin' neat.

If I wanted to order something like this (katana?), can I do it online. If so, where and how much? Does it come sharpened?

Edify me.

Why do people buy these things? For aesthetic purposes?

If you want it just for looks, you can find stainless steel swords anywhere very cheaply, they are all over ebay.

If you want a real katana, Cold Steel makes excellent ones.

HER? A chick wants a sword? WTF?

Anyway, I recommend coldsteel.com. I have some of their throwing knives, and I plan on getting a tomahawk from them soon.

Yea. And because I imagine a nice katana is one of those things that is just damn cool to put on a wall and show people that are interested.

Who knows. I don't own one or plan to but its nice to have an excuse to buy one to see it.

You paid $20 for a sword and expected it to not break?

Katanas are badass, if you know how to use it.

I never understood having a sword.

I mean sure they are badass. But to me it would be like being stuck on a desert island with a ton of hot naked strictly lesbian chicks, and looking down to see I have a 13" dick. Whats the point tho cuz I'm never gunna get to use it.

Same thing for people who buy like those huge guns and get a hard on because it could shoot through an engine block or whatever. Congratulations, you own something really cool that you'll never get to use for its intended purpose. How awesome.
