Recommendations on Strip Hotel (Poker Rate) for 4 people
Going to Vegas in April/May with 3 buddies, looks like a Wed to Saturday.
We want a large room (maybe a suite?) at a Strip casino where we can get a good Poker rate. Ideally, the play commitment could be split amongst the 4 of us so that we can sample the other rooms on the Strip. I am looking for recommendations on where to stay such that a single room will be comfortable for 4? Some factors: <ul type="square">[*]size of the room[*]2 beds + couch[*]poker rate[*]poker room (to log hours on the rate)[*]location on the Strip
Based on information at AllVegasPoker Room Rates it seems like the following are possibilities: <ul type="square">[*]Bellagio - $149 Wed/Thu, $219 Fri - 6 hours of play[*]Caesar's - $119 Wed/Thu, $199 Fri - 8 hours of play[*]Mandalay - $115 Wed/Thu, $175 Fri - 5 hours of play[*]MGM Grand - $40 off rate - 5 hours of play[*]Mirage - $109 Wed/Thu, $149 Fri - 6 (8 Fri) hours of play[*]Venetian - $169 Wed/Thu, $249 Fri - 8 hours of play[*]Wynn - $129 Wed/Thu, $199 Fri - 8 hours of play
From reading here it appears that people generally like the Venetian Rooms and think they are large. For any of these rates, am I going to have a problem booking with 4 people? Thanks. |

Re: Recommendations on Strip Hotel (Poker Rate) for 4 people
What limits are you looking to play?
I can't speak to hotel room quality on any of these. MGM has a great room if you're looking to play low. Not claustrophobic, good drink service, good staff, nice people to play with. The Mirage also has a cool room and probably a better location. The hotel is nice but slightly older than your other options. Last time I was there it was mostly low limit action. If you want to play higher, then Bellagio and Wynn are your options. The staff at the Wynn poker room is a couple notches above the Bellagio. |

Re: Recommendations on Strip Hotel (Poker Rate) for 4 people
Most of the time if you have more than 2 people in a room it's like $25 extra per person per night. So if you do this, only tell them 2 people in the room(the 2 that will play the most poker)

Re: Recommendations on Strip Hotel (Poker Rate) for 4 people
I stayed at the lowest suite at the MGM a couple months ago with 4 people. it was a bit cramped but bearable.
we had 2 queen beds, plus couch, plus a campbed that we had them put in so it was 1 person per bed. the camp bed took up most of the space between the couch and tv in what would be the 'living area' of the room, there was still space for table, opened ironing board, room service trolley in there tho so it wasn't TOO cramped. certainly bearable as long as you're not planning on doing any entertaining in the suite. I phoned ahead requesting this, but not sure if this is needed as it wasn't there when we checked in but a phone call to house keeping and it was delivered 10 minutes later. the camp bed was basically just a normal bed that had wheels so it could be moved around. certainly big enough for someone small-medium (if you're much over 6' it might feel small) and the couch was pretty long. |

Re: Recommendations on Strip Hotel (Poker Rate) for 4 people
to add on...
as schwatt mentiones, there was an extra charge per person per night for each person > 2, can't remember what it was but $25 sounds about right. I think the mgm poker room is a lot more fun than the venetian. venetian was comfortable and looked nice, however the games weren't great and cocktail service was very poor. that really depends on what type of game/limit you are looking for tho. |

Re: Recommendations on Strip Hotel (Poker Rate) for 4 people
We are all playing low limits, up to $2/$5NL and $8/$16L.
Not really planning on any entertaining in the room, just sleeping for a couple of hours each night, maybe having a beer before going out at night. I suspected that if I had 4 people I'd be charged extra. If I only book with 2, I guess I can't get keys for the others, which means they may not be able to use the pool depending on where we stay. |

[/ QUOTE ] the only problem w/ this plan is when you tell them you lost a key the front desk basically resets your code for all of your keys. the only way around cramming extra people in a room is to share keys. that is what I had to do at the barbary coast last year. of course we had 5 people in a normal room! |

Just call and get the poker room rate and mention 4, and ask if there is any additional charge. Otherwise, if one of those guys loses their key, and has to get a new one, it could be a pain to fetch one of the registered guests. Edit to add this also removes the need for any senseless posturing to get more room keys. |
