The wait seemed to be around 2 hours for most games. They had 3 tables running for most of them, and the usual stud table.

I think it's between the holidays though and I saw a lot more new faces than usual. Perhaps it will die down some next week, unless everyone found out the new room is open now and they want to check it out.

I think there were only 13 tables open or something. I played with one of the craps ladies too, not as many hands dealt an hour but I am sure she will get better. What table were you playing at?

They were saying that there would not be TV's in the card room when the expansion was done, but I saw many cable outlets on the walls. Did they have any TV's going?

No TV's.

I saw those as well. Maybe they are for more cameras, they have a shortage of those..... (j/k)

New poker room expansion is awesome.

Lighting is about 100x better, and you dont feel like youre in a utility closet. I was there about 12 of the first 48 hrs all 15 tables were open. good times.

For suggestions, I would really like to see some single table tourneys when tables start to close in the early morning. 60-100 bucks would draw a crowd for sure.

I also want a 1/2 blind 200 max NL game. Oh, and more stud.

Matt Mcegg,

Couple quick questions:

1) Did the NL game have a time charge now instead of a rake?
2) Were the lists really long?

Thanks

No, the rake is still 10% with... i think $5 max on the NL game, $4 max i think on limit games. Not great, but not awful.

Theres some luck involved with the lists. I play 3/6 and 3 of the 4 times i went there when the room was opened i sat down right away.

Just call them up (1800paysbig) and then hit 0 to talk to someone, and ask for the poker room. They can put u on the list, and you ask them how long it is.

Hope that helped.

Thanks, that helps. I do have the room # and will call them up before heading down.

I had heard they were going to time charge ($6/half hour) the NL game after the expansion. Maybe they reconsidered or are just waiting.

My significant other and I were visiting some friends in Milwaukee this weekend. My friend and I decided to check out Potawatomi. Anyway, I thought people might want a brief post-expansion update (since I couldn't find many in this thread or anywhere else on the forum), so a trip report follows.

We could not head over there until 8:30 PM on Saturday night. Based on this thread, I assumed that the wait times would be killer; in fact, I thought we might not even be able to play. I called ahead about 1 1/2 hours before we arrived. Wait times were not a problem. My friend wanted to play 2/4 limit; there was a spot for him after about 10 minutes. (There was no wait for 3/6, but he didn't want to play that.) I wanted to play 3/5 NL. I had to wait about 40 minutes, but there was a 5/10 limit seat available immediately, and I played that while I waited.

I played 3/5 NL until 2:00 AM or so. At first, I think there were 3 tables going. There was no list however, and they eventually combined the tables so that there were 2. After that, there was a constant stream of new players. Not sure how deep the list got, but it couldn't have been too long or they would have opened another table. (There are 15-17 tables or so; at least 2 were empty.) (I wonder if the extreme cold caused a slower night than usual. It was a very cold day, a lot of people might have chosen to stay home.)

All in all I liked the card room. I usually play at the boats in East Chicago and Gary, and I would prefer to play here. (Not sure if would be worth the longer drive from Chicago, though.)

Things I liked: (a) 3/5 NL, 600 max is a nice-sized game for my bankroll, I think, compared to 2/5 NL, 300 max (at Majestic Star - initial stack is too shallow for my tastes) or 5/10 NL, 1000 max (at Resorts, a good game, but can sometimes get a little too big for me personally [although that doesn't stop me from playing]); (b) despite what management apparently told some people in this thread, the NL game is still raked (10%, $4 max) - and this is a lot better than the huge time charges in Indiana, in my opinion; (c) clean chips - this is a luxury after playing at Majestic Star and something I never take for granted; (d) there are chip runners and the dealer would call the waitress over if someone wanted a drink (obviously, these are things taken for granted in Vegas and most of the civilized word, but they are not things we are accustomed to in Indiana).

Bad things: (a) as mentioned above, the poker room is attached to a (depressingly) huge bingo hall, not the casino, so the lighting is not the best (flourescent lights) and fewer "blackjack players who want to try poker" are making their way there; (b) no alcohol allowed in the poker room - the badness of this should be self-evident; (c) Dealer quality was VERY uneven. Some of the dealers were very, very good; some were very, very bad. And I mean bad, as in occasionally asking the players what the rules are. There was one dealer in particular who (while very nice) simply should not have been dealing a poker game; it seems inevitable that if she keeps dealing that NL game, she will make a mistake that will cost someone thousands of dollars, and that will be unpleasant for everyone (especially her).

Some people were complaining at one table about some problem with the floor treating customers poorly (I believe it had something to do with turning the TV to a certain channel), but I didn't get the details and my brief interactions with the floor were fine.

As for the game itself, it was as good as people have been saying in this thread. Of course, I suck at poker, so I still ended up down.

Again, despite the negatives, I think I would prefer to play here than in East Chicago or Gary (if that's not damning with faint praise, I don't know what is) - assuming the games prove in the long run to be equally good.

If anyone has any questions, I'll try to check in and answer them, although I'm not sure I know anything useful that I didn't put in this post. Again, I just thought people would want a brief post-expansion report.
