Default Live $65 MTT 1st hand QQ

Starting stacks are 5,000. 1st level 1st hand blinds are 25/50. Levels up every 30 minutes.
10 handed. 30 players total, top 4 are paid.

Hero is dealt Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

Never played with UTG+1. LP1 is a fairly tight level 3 thinker. I just played a 10 handed SNG top 2 qualifier with him seated to my right and from his play there he appears to be a level 3 thinking type that will make moves and has a fairly tight range pre flop to raise with.
Never saw him mini reraise pre flop in the single table.

He saw me play very few hands at the previous table, I showed down QQ 4 handed after 2 larger stacks limped 4 handed and shoved with an M of about 7, and took another hand down earlier than that by open shoving short in MP where it was folded to me and I took the blinds without showing.
He was eliminated before we finished the qualifier so he really only saw me play those 2 hands.
But we have discussed some hands other times I've been to this place playing at different tables.

1 fold, UTG+1 raises to 225, 2 folds, LP1 raises to 500, 1 fold Hero ?

I made a reraise to $2000.

I didn't want to flat call because that sucks here when I can most likely push UTG+1 out unless he has a monster and isolate LP1.
On the other hand if UTG+1 or LP1 or both come over the top all in that sucks.
I can fold it and still have 3,000 with blinds of 25/50 but, with LP1 mini reraising here I think I'm ahead of his range enough to make a reraise to $2,000 a good option.

Reraise>>>>>Call>Shove ?

UTG+1 thinks about 30 seconds and folds. LP1 insta goes over the top all in.
It's either a monster or he is level 3ing me with 1010+, AKs, AKo IMO.

Hero ?

I like the reraise to 2K. Shoving 5000 chips into a pot of like 800 after the first reraise is just stupid IMO - you're only getting called by KK+. AK-,JJ- would probably flat call your rr. You're probably against Kings or better here 80% of the time.

push the first time around.

People do not think on the third level in low buyin live tournaments. You might be against someone who is thinking 'double up or go play the side games' and therefore might be pushing 66+/AQ+ but that guy is not pushing his 99 because you know that he knows that you know he is strong; he is doing so because he has a pocket pair.

That said, even if you were against AA/AK/KK you have given yourself the pot odds to call his 4-bet. All in.

You are wrong. Stupid things happens on the first hand of low buy in live tournaments. Actually, stupid things happen at all stages of live tournaments.

Your push will be called by a lot of hands that you dominate (and obviously also both hands that domniate you)

agreed. the 225 at my local casino is like a 1$ tourney on pstars.

I think he could easily have 99+ KJ+ here.
plus the pots already too big to fold out IMO.
I shove initially and as played I insta call.

Hmmm.. I probably am giving villain too much credit here. Given OP's read i'm not really sure. It's certainly possible he has the "double up ants in the pants" and is having a brain hemorrhage with 66+.

Cornell is wise.

I guess I'm railing too many good players that actually think.

Villain pushed with 1010, I thought about it for about 1 minute and decided his range could be wide enough and called.
