Yeah, same thing with me. I hope that 5 managed to get busted in the few minutes it took for the server to crash... but unlikely I think.

will be paid out according to your chip position at the time of the disconnect

I hope that is just poorly worded, not the actual policy.

That could result in a situation where a single chip (2nd place + 1 chip) would be worth $20,000 or more. More often, people would lose large sums of money depending on where the blinds were at the time of the crash.

Hopefully they at least divide it based on the chip counts or something similar, not just chip position.

Extremely unfair. You were risking your buy-in the whole time, and they get to keep it if you are eliminated.

Heads is a tie, tails you lose.

Edit: I misread that. I must be getting tired. It's still an unfair policy though, IMO the prize pool should be divided among remaining players according to chip count.

and i get the same automated response to my e-mail complaining. its a big difference to get over 600 or wherever i was placed when it crashed, or get back a 26$ token. its an awfull solution, and i really hope they take notice of this... although unlikely...sigh....

For future reference, the rules on what happens in the event of a server error are listed as rule 31 in the tourney rules section on the website. It adresses all cases discussed here including in the money, out of the money, and non-monetary prizes.
