From espn.com's ProTrade:

"Play: Devin Hester returns the opening kickoff 92 yards for a TD.
Bears Win Probability Before: 56%
Bears Win Probability After: 74%
Change: 18%
Breakdown: The Bears get the early 7-0 jump as the dynamic returner takes the first play 92 yards. "

They must have had a lot of money on the Bears then. Or did the coin-toss swing the chances ~20%?

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah. I saw this and was wondering WTF kind of stupid statistics do they use. Pretty sure with that spread their inferred win % was like 31 pregame.

I think that they gave a huge % increase to the Bears pregame due to the weather.

Considering that model appears to use statistics only, that shouldn't have made much difference, or at least not 25% difference. Contrary to popular belief, rain doesn't really favor the defensive team, it just usually makes it a lower scoring game.

This is anything but calling out Pats fans, but...

When Peyton lost to the Pats or whoever in the playoffs, people kept saying "Boo, Peyton can't win the big one".

Then he went off and beat the Patriots in the AFC Title game, coming from behind. Then they said "Well, THAT wasn't the Big One".

I assume this was.
