Default 55 - spite push?

Weird play by the SB here. The SB appeared to be donk and had called off most of his stack before this hand.

You mean berating the ones he isn't giving lessons to?

By far he is the best multi-table berater/coacher on the planet. I'd hate him if he wasn't so pathetic.

I'm glad I am not the only one.

People like him give poker players a bad name and make me ashamed to be a pro poker player.

The problem with A8s suited is that although you're probably ahead here, it can't ever be by much. At best you're looking at being a 65/35 favorite. At worst he spite calls with A9o. You can't really put him on "a worse eight..."

but you can put him on a worse ace.

of course, he's less likely to do it with hands like A2 compared to AK, and since your kicker is right in the middle of the pack you're more likely to be dominated if he has a naked ace...

I guess I corrected myself.

This is bad. You are putting nearly half your stack in PF w/ A8s, as a caller, at this level? Yikes. A small PF raise isn't terrible, but I just check PF, hit a flop, and then let him go all in.

Well, I don't even think I need to be a favorite against his range to make this call. I'm getting 1.4:1 to call since I already have money in the pot. Also, I'm not going broke here, so the "avoid coinflips" cliche doesn't apply here. EV and $EV are very close.

I just did the math, I think.

icm fold: 0.0924
icm call/lose: 0.0578
icm call/win: 0.1376

According to this, I have to win 43.4% to break even by ICM/$EV. If he shows you 22, folding is awful.

At the time, I felt like his weird raise was horses***, though I can't really explain why. I'd expect to see 54o more often than AK.
