Is "Checking Out" typically legal at most well established casinos?

My local casino (Potawanomi in Milw), recently has started issuing warnings for certain things like folding out of turn.

Today I noticed that they also consider "checking out" (folding when it's your turn when you could of checked), as folding out of turn.

Is this really the rule? I admit my only experience is this casino, online (where you can fold if you really want to), and home games. So my impression always was that you could fold here, it was just one of your options along with bet or check. (not a good option though since you can check)

Just curious. If TT or RR reply or someone that's been around (AC, Vegas, Cali), we can probally close this thread.

(personally I never check out anyway, but was curious if this was a misinterpetation of the rules, or probally just something I wasnt aware of)

iv checked out a few times normaly on the River when I missed my Draw and know the guy behind is going bet that i cant call.

Right I see people do this all the time. Which is the only reason I can think for not allowing it, although I always assumed it was a legal option.

It happened all the time at my casino as well (on the flop, on the turn, on the river....), it's just now that Ive heard that it's illegal.

(so lots of people can say they've done it, but Im wondering if any other casinos would say it's not allowed)

This is highly retarded. When it is checked to you you have three options. Check, Bet, or Fold. I wish I lived close to you so I could simply get myself barred for folding every hand instead of checking.

Personally i believe checking out is inappropriate, like folding out turn however the only remedy that really exists is to warn players not to do it and disinvite them from playing if they eprsist. Few Casino's care to do this, though though I suspect most knowledgable floorpeople would agree that it is inappropriate conduct.

I think the penalty for checking out is that your hand is dead and mucked and you forfeit any money you have in the pot.

Really - there's absoloutly nothing wrong with this practice. I've never even heard a nit complain about it, which would suggest that whoever's up in arms here is some sort of uber-nit rarely seen in the wild.

That is absolutely not true. When you "check out" you give information to other players in the hand that they otherwise should not have. The guy to your left can now bet knowing full well that you will not check-raise him.

That's not being nitty, either. There are no rules against "checking out" that I know of, but it is generally considered poor form.

its legal. It is legal at Bellagio and all major poker rooms and online.
