Default $10 stars for help with excel.

I will ship $10 to the first person who posts this and allows me to get this working in excel.

I have like 35 rows of data

eg..

A B
1 data1
2 data2
3 etc
4
5

I want to form a new column where I calculate the %increase or decrease from one year to the next (this is GDP change analysis). For example, the first data point in column C would be (data2/data1). I know how to do this for an individual cell: "=(rowletter)(column#)/(rowletter)(column#-1)

if anyone can provide me w/ a FORMULA THAT I CAN GET WORKING
u get free monies.

im sure this will take 10 seconds for some excel nerd PLZ HELP

also, to make things simpler, you need to make your column/row definitions either all generic or all specific. you've mised them in your example which, for me, has muddied the picture somewhat.

sounds like you can use the "Fill" up or down if you are asking how to do mulitple cells in sequence (Cell A, Row 1 / Cell B Row 1 followed by Cell A, Row 2,/ Cell B, Row 2 one row below). If you want to do it for group data or with multple initial inputs, sum the inputs in a single cell, then use your formula in different individual cells to calculate year to year changes usinghte totals you just previously calculated. You can again use the "Fill" feature to apply it to year to year differences.

Cell A1: 10 Cell B1: 11 Cell C1: =(B1 - A1)/A1
Cell A2: 14 Cell B2: 9 Cell C2: =(B2 - A2)/A2
Cell A3: 13 Cell B3: 16 Cell C3: =(B3 - A3)/A3

You can also just make the formula correct for Cell C1 and drag it down and it will correctly outfill.

I'm on FTP so I guess you save your $10.

I think i finally get your question the second time through.... In excell the columns are indicated with letters (ie A, B, C) and the rows with #'s. You can specify which cells you want to modify by combining the two preceded by the equals sign (ex. "= A1/ B1") . The output of this would be whatever cell you typed that in (in your case " Column C". If you want to apply this to sequential cells, you can use the "FiLL" feature in one of the drop down menus listed above the spreadsheet.
