If the Bears win the toss, they would more likely put the defense on the field. Likewise, if Indy wins, they would like to score. This is a no brainer. Heads I win, tails you lose. Ship it.

I did some research:

In the NFL, a team cannot defer their choice if they win the coin toss and team's always choose to receive but in college football teams can defer the choice to the second half?

This is from the NFL site and explains why:

Coin Toss
1. The toss of coin will take place within three minutes of kickoff in center of field. The toss will be called by the visiting captain before the coin is flipped. The winner may choose one of two privileges and the loser gets the other:

(a) Receive or kick

(b) Goal his team will defend

2. Immediately prior to the start of the second half, the captains of both teams must inform the officials of their respective choices. The loser of the original coin toss gets first choice.

Wildb, youtalkfunny knows this but most people don't. Every year someone brings it up and people try to argue that you can defer when most the older posters know that you cannot.
