1) (Most) worse hands will fold, so you gain very little value from them if you bet.
2) Some better hands will call.
3) The rest of the better hands could raise us off our sweet little nut flush redraw.

So all in all, we're not winning extra money by putting in more chips - we're rather losing them.

Now, if we check behind, villain will still bet his better hands on the river, but also bet weaker hands, and try a bluff every now and again.
Plus, if we hit our flush, then the villain who may have tried to c/r us with his set on the turn will pay dearly to find out that his sneaky lil' plot bit him in the...

Yeah, but lets say we don't hit our NF and the turn is a blank and he bets. Is he bluffing or does he have a K? If its any substantial bet you would have to fold it even though its probably a bluff right?

you have outs to the nut flush. i cold call like that i think is usually a flush draw (less likely if hes ok) and a set... maybe KQ but i doubt it.

[/ QUOTE ]It does. Thanks. Good post.

So basically we are assuming that in the long run we are beat 2 out of 3 times here right? So we want to check and make our FD.

I wondered if you might have done that. I think it would be a good move. Worrying less about 'protecting' is the way to go I think. Against bad players you should probably charge the drawer however.

Yeah, the only draw here could be AK[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] and maybe AJ[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
