Turning \".doc\" into \".jpg\"
I know zero about computers (as it will soon become apparent) so perhaps you could help me out.
Wanted to create an avatar. Found something I liked on a web site; to capture it, I "CTRL-C'd" it and "CTRL-V'd" it onto a word document. This was successful in copying the graphic. Problem is, I want to load it onto a photobucket account that I opened to accomplish this. They require ".jpg" (I think) format. How do I make the format change? |

Re: Turning \".doc\" into \".jpg\"
well you can start by next time pasting your print screen into a photo editor instead of Word. use MSPAINT included with windows, works fine.
to get your current screen capture converted, you should be able to Copy it from the word document and Paste it into mspaint. there is no way to convert a .doc file to an image file lol |

Re: Turning \".doc\" into \".jpg\"
Did you need to change the image? If the image is of suitable size, etc. you can just link directly to it in you avatar. (Yes, you're stealing bandwidth, but who cares?)

[/ QUOTE ] I'd advise against directly linking to an image for your avatar....although I'd love to be the webmaster that noticed unusual hit frequency and HTTP GET requests for the image...wouldn't take long to figure out what was going on...and I'd change the image to something degrading just out of spite lol Anyway yeah...paste to paint, save as .jpg, upload to imageshack, and be done with it |

Re: Turning \".doc\" into \".jpg\"
If you want to get an image off a web site, right click on the image and click "save image as" (Firefox) or "save picture as" (IE). This will save it as a .jpg, (or .gif or .png if that's what the original is) and then you can just upload it to the image hosting site.

My fantasy is always to replace the image with one that contains the text "Proud member of the North American Man-boy Love Association".

I got an IM from a screen name NAMBLA-(somthing) very recently (from another 2+2'er) lol. I'd just swap the file w/ an opposite kind of image, and edit the orig website so the orig image was still displayed. NAMBLA could be a good theme change tho....or an "I got beat up by your honors student", "I suck", "I <image of a screw> My Dog", some image of a real-looking person picking their nose (animated), Barney, a Teletubby, GWB, a Bible, circle-slashed coat hanger, Ossama, porno fisting, or other equally likely image to offend either the general public or preferably the avatar "owner". |

Re: Turning \".doc\" into \".jpg\"
There have been a few times when a webmaster noticed avatar bandwidth theft, and some clueless 2p2 user found they had tubgirl as their avatar. Often, the image looks bad only when pulled by 2p2; all other sites see it as the original image.
