I'm planning to play in one of the $1,060 or $1,580/$1,570 events at either the LA Poker Classic at Commerce or the WSOP Circuit event at Harrah's Rincon. I'm trying to decide which will be a better event in terms of structure, level of play, and number of players. The events are:
2/5/07 LAPC $1,060 NLH 2/8/07 LAPC $1,580 NLH 2/13/07 LAPC $1,060 NLH 2/13/07 WSOP $1,060 NLH 2/17/07 WSOP $1,060 NLH 2/18/07 WSOP $1,570 NLH 2/19/07 LAPC $1,060 NLH 2/21/07 LAPC $1,580 NLH 2/22/07 LAPC $1,060 NLH I've found the WSOP Circuit event structure for earlier events, which suggests they will probably have $2,000 in starting chips, 25/25 to start, with 60 minute leves for the $1,060 events; same structure but with $3,000 chips for the $1,570. I can't find any structure info for the comparable LAPC events, and I have no idea which events will feature larger fields (Commerce is obviously way better located, but the event doesn't carry the WSOP name) or which will feature better players. Any thoughts? |

Commerce, with its urban location in Los Angeles, will have BIG fields. (The $330 buy-in event on January 25 had over 1200 players.)
Driving to and from Rincon during February, especially during a rain storm, can be tricky and/or downright dangerous. Access to Rincon, which is surrounded by mountains, is via mountain roads with sharp curves. With no TV scheduled for Rincon, most of the "pros", and many of the "action players", will stay at Commerce for most of February. |

Commerce easy. Juice smaller, structure better, fields huger (yes, that is a word), and Harrah's sucks.

Thanks for the info. It sounds like Commerce is probably the place to go. I'm still trying to find out the structure of the Commerce events to see if it really is better.

Any thoughts? [/ QUOTE ] The field at Rincon WSOP circuit will be much softer b/c of Commerce. It was soft last year as well for an added reason: most top pros were taping the second NBC Head-up Championship. |

[/ QUOTE ] Wtf makes you mention a "rain storm" as one of the reasons not to go to Rincon, lol. (I'll probably die in a car crash on the way to Rincon, now). Also, I think many pros will go for the 5K event at Rincon. |

I'd go to Rincon if I had a car here.

I'm heading to rincon myself for one of the first few events. It'll be the first time I've gone to an event with this kind of buy in. Does anyone have any general advice? What is the structure like? And how does it compare to the structure on Poker Stars?

Check out the structures for other circuit events (e.g., Tunica) on worldseriesofpoker.com, and you'll see what they're like at Rincon. Pretty much the same across the board. I'll be there for the first couple of days but can't play the ME because of a work commitment.
