Default Moving up to chase losses ? anyone have any good ways 2 stop this.

Man I have no discipline at all ...say im down 3-4 buy ins at the end of the night, I cant help but jump up like 3-4 times my limit and win it all back quickly...

I really wanna stop doing this as I think it is definitely my biggest leak.

I need to punish myself somehow, or find a way to discipline myself to not do this. Cause you cant book a winning day every day in poker ...i know this is the way it is but i just have a extremely hard time booking losing days.

help!

Suggestion: keep minimal money on the site. Keep like 5 buy ins max. It won't completely eliminate the desire to chase your loss, but at least you have to go to the extra step of getting the money onto the site. Perhaps in this 10-15 seconds, sanity will hit. Ultimately it's just something that you have to learn how to manage.

I was notorious for chasing losses. Lose enough money and you'll stop the fastest, but most difficult to deal with way (BUSTO).

Hi, I used to have this problem and there is no single thing I can say that will make you stop doing this. You have to realize that your poker career is ONE long session and even the best players have losing days, this is normal. Sometimes it just isn't your day. I know it sounds simple, but you just have to work at it or you are eventually going to go bust. Hopefully that scary thought alone will make you change your ways. Good Luck

ya i have gone busto a few times due to this, been trying to avoid that more so lately.

Been pretty good about it, but here and there after sessions where for some stupid ass reason ill do it.

I think im goin make like a really nasty drink or something that would taste HORRIBLE, and whenever i tilt or move up to chase losses ill force myself to drink it.

So in the future ill know the taste of tilt/moving up which may prevent me from doin it.

Now the question is what to put in this tilt drink.

I can't image doing this ever so I've got no idea on how to stop this...

Meh its all about proper bankroll management, probably one of the toughest things (or for others easiest things) to learn about poker. And it seems to me its also the most important thing to learn at this point in your career...

One thing you can try and do is find an applicable analogy in some other activity you partake in that can make you see just how ludicrous it is to chase losses.

Here's a personal example I've used. I've played bball in several city leagues where I've been the manager/organizer of the team. We first played in a B league and went totally defeated -- that's right, we didn't win a single game.

So when the next league started, I could of moved us up to the A league, but that would make absolutely no sense because we didn't even win a single B league game the previous session. Instead I tweaked our roster and put us in another B league and we went undefeated and won the championship.

if losing 5x as much as you would have otherwise doesnt sting enough then a [censored] tasting drink isnt going to work.
