Re: Foxwoods 4/8 prefloppa \'gainst a 2p2ah
If you think he has a fairly wide raising range in this spot, then I can see a 3-bet. Also, I would be hoping to get him HU so do you think the blinds and the limper will get out of the way. That has to factor in also.
If you think a 3-bet won't get the pot HU, or at most 3-way, then a cold-call may give you a nice 4 or 5 person pot that you also would be in good shape for with your suited broadways. |

[ QUOTE ] is he positionally aware with is PFR? i don't know what you mean by nitty. one interpretation would lean towards one course of action and another would lean me towards doing something completely different. [/ QUOTE ] Hey James, He's definitely positionally aware and definitely capable of making an isolation play. What I meant by "nitty" was that he's a little weak-tight postflop. [/ QUOTE ] i'm sure he appreciates that. 3baaayuttttt! |

[ QUOTE ]
I think that coldcalling would would be correct only if you were quite sure that at least two more were coming behind you. [/ QUOTE ] This wouldn't be likely? SSHE recommends cold-calling very rarely, but this is one of the few hands that fits the bill. AJs mostly wants to hit a big draw and get paid off in a big pot, right? If you 3 bet, and get it HU, how good is that? On the good side, of course, you have position. On the bad side, if he caps and leads out on the flop, what flops are you glad to see? Not too many. Even flops that hurt your hand like Axx or Jxx don't look too good. It seems to me you want to cold-call and get the weaker players in the hand, and hope to hit a big hand. OTOH if the PFR plays poorly enough post-flop, raising could be better, but the dude's a 2+2er! |
