I have the button and an medium connector. A raise can't be that bad.

It's not that bad. I simply don't think there's enough in the pot to get involved.

If you have a read that indicates the blinds will give up easily (either before or after the flop), that's a different matter.

From my experience, the minraise in spots like this has usually meant a strong hand.

It's impossible to advise here because so much depends on timing and reads and the buyin and site but where I play, villain is FOS (in the sense that he doesn't have hearts or a boat) a substantial majority of the time here. However, your problem is that that doesn't mean he won't make a crying call with a better hand anyway.
