Thank god for the CBC and public broadcasting. CBC does the smart thing up here and shows live events AS THEY HAPPEN and they at 7:00 they have an Olympic primetime where they showcase all of the highlights of the past day in a slightly shorter version (with highlights on the Canadians of course)
They've done a pretty decent job (imho) and i agree that the NBC coverage has been lame (and rediculously pro American...but hey whatever) |

i thought they tape delayed it in the states b/c of the time zones? although, i haven't done the math, but no one's watching moguls at 3am [/ QUOTE ] OK, but how about events that are running in primetime in Italy. Why can't they show them live in the States (at say 1-2PM EST)? |

I just got this channel in my local cable package called, UniversalHD and it had live olympic coverage on from 9AM-2PM EST Sunday, same for Monday, seems to be scheduled for 7AM-2PM on Tuesday and then 6AM for the rest of the week.

Part of the problem is that there just aren't that many events to show. I get much more irritated with the Summer Olympics, where I feel like I should never be watching the preliminary rounds of anything since they could show all finals all the time if they wanted.
I agree that the lack of live coverage is stupid, and that NBC's coverage overall is weak. |

I remember my parents used to watch canadian stations and their coverage was a helluva lot better. Not to mention, they also covered it live alot more.
Not sure if they're still doing that. b |

If I'm watching the Olympics, I'm watching CBC. It's great. (And Hockey Night in Canada isn't bad, either.) |

I lived in the states during the Olympics in Atlanta and all my friends congratulated me before I went ("Wow, you gonna get the best tv coverage"). Little did we all know...
I first could not believe the ridiculous quality of the coverage. Nothing live, medal ceremonies only if an American won, first week the only live events were swimming, second week it was only gymnastics, etc etc. I really feel for you boys over there... German tv of course shows as much live coverage as they possibly can. Here is the live feed (don't know if this works since real player is blocked from work) Real Player German TV Live Feed |
