This Saturday, there's going to be a cool duo of events in and around Arlington. I thought I'd toss some info in this thread as we have a fair number of D.C. peeps, it seems.

Flux - Art Sensory Overload & D.C. Counter Culture Festival

Art raffles, fire dancing, interactive art, bands, booze, cool stuff you can't buy in a store, etc. Should be pretty awesome. I don't know if I can get a "sup bro?" shirt made in time, but if I do, I'll certainly be easy to find.

[/ QUOTE ]

Cool stuff guy. I may make it out there for the afternoon. That website is familiar, I think my friend has some webcomics on it...Do you know any of those people?

[/ QUOTE ]

I know one of the people in one of the bands, but that's it. I'm looking forward to it, should be pretty cool. I really liked Art-o-matic in the past, and I'm guessing this will be an indier version of that.

Glad to see you're up here in DC now Shajen...just in time for some cold and windy weather tonight

I'll be in for the 2p2 DC Happy Hour when you get settled in.

Take a stroll through the thread from the start, you'll come up with a list of names pretty fast. There are a fair number of us.

Someone notify me if there will be drinking in the District. If there's no drinking don't bother - I'm not hanging out with 2p2ers sober.

Don't worry, no one wants to hang out with you anyway:

I also question the Alexandria to Vienna commute. It's not one i would want to do.

Best seafood: There are loads of good seafood places in DC but for something different try heading down to the DC fish market on a nice day for some fresh steamed crabs and shrimp.

Best place to catch you hometown football team: Bailey's in the Ballston Mall.

Best pollo a la brasa: The Chicken Place near Bailey's crossroads.

Best soul food: If your around the U-Street corridor try the Florida Avenue Grill for some great soul food. You might want to avoid this place at night though.

Best BBQ: Red Hot and Blue. It's a chain but the ribs and brisket are great.

Best Fast Food Burger: Five Guys. They also have great fries.

Best Happy Hour: Rock Bottom Brewary for $1 micro brew pints

[/ QUOTE ]

Whoa, way off on some.

Best Pollo a la Brasa: Pollo Rico, on Wilson Blvd in Arlington. This is not close.

Bailey's can be great for football, but order your next beer when your current is delivered, the service is very bad.

Best BBQ: I have TN roots so I have some insight. Red Hot & Blue has wonderful potato salad and baked beans. The ribs are also very good. The pork is only OK, and the brisket is very bad. Overall, the better chain establishment is Famous Dave's, which arrived in the last few years up here (there's one in Oakton, near vienna). The pork, ribs, brisket, catfish and sausages are all great. RH&B still has the best potato salad though. I don't know if I've ever had better. Boiled egg is the key.

Best Burger: Five guys is spot on. Wonderful.

Best Seafood: Ok, not really, but the new place in Old Town Alexandria Eaamon's is pretty good, a "Dublin Chipper", with fresh fish & chips. Quite tasty.

Best HH: Rock Bottom in Ballston is great for cheap decent beer, $1 pints on Weds, but you're better off avoiding the wall to wall 23 year olds and going Friday night. Much more laid back and enjoyable, and a 23 oz beer costs $3.

I had no idea so many folks were from DC. Why can't I ever find a poker game?

Elevation is the best burger joint. The best burger however is at Harry's Tap Room.
