Looking to \"park \" some $$$ for a little while
I want to put about 30k in an online savings account or money market (actually not sure what the difference between these two is) for a few months, at which point I'll be moving most of that money into other investments.
can someone suggest the best option when considering interest rates and the fact that it is probably preferable to use a service that also offers many types of investing (since i'll eventually want to allocate my assets in different places and the less online brokerage accounts i have the better). thanks in advance. |

Many banks now offer high-interest online savings accounts. The ones that come to my mind are ING Direct, Citi, HSBC, Wamu, Emigrant Direct, iGobanking, E*Trade, e-Loan.

Countrywide is offering way less than 5% on balances under $10,000.

Precisely why one needs $10,000 minimum to save there.......
By the way, the rate is 5.40 for 50,000 and above........and they have an 11 month CD paying the same for a 20,000 minimum stake. -FH- |

Now you should consider HSBC direct, offering 6% interest on new money until April 07.
Only 3 months, but what the heck. |

Re: Looking to \"park \" some $$$ for a little while
i looked at the biggest savings sites and the best rate i found (besides the temporary 6%) was 5.25% at both eloan and countrywide, but you only need to deposit $5000 at eloan compared to 10,000 at countywide.
is eloan a solid place to keep money? i am not sure how thier fees and such work since i am new to this. i am open to advise and recommendations. also, if i get an account that has a 5.25% rate, can that reate ever change on me or do i have it forever? thanks |
