Okay, now for response to OP. I agree with a lot of these comments, but they don't offer anything constructive. Your site has a lot of text and little whitespace.

When I first load the page, nothing draws my attention to what the site is, or what it's about. You need to use some <h1>, <h2>, etc. tags for headings to make things stand out. You also need to spread blocks of text further apart to help the user distinguish where to look.

I personally suck at web design. I'm a programmer, not a designer. I believe it was JoshK who pointed to Open Source Web Design in his Daily AdSense Routine post, and that site has been rather handy. I'd suggest giving it a look if you aren't a designer or really haven't used a lot of HTML/CSS before. It'll give you a good jump start, and you can always modify what's there to better suit your needs.
