I\'ve gained 40 lbs since August
August: 185
Today: 225 Height: 5'9 After months and months of hard working out, and the "no contact period"(2 weeks away from coaches contact before football season officially finishes.) I weighed in at 185 right before this. 2 weeks later I come out at 201. I went on vacation, had limited physical activity but some. Ate well. Fast forward to December, the end of the season I came out at 215. I have never gained weight during the season before. During the season, I worked out about once a week in the weightroom, and a hard practice Monday-Wednesday, then game on Friday. Today, January 26th, I weighed in at 225. This has come after no physical activity whatsoever since our last game in early December. Today was the first day I worked out. Monday I had a practice at college. So, 40 lbs in this time frame seems kind of ridiculous to me. Am I destined to be fat? Really fat? Right now I am nowhere near as strong as I was, and am noticeably fatter. This is really no surprise, but I was surprised by the amount of weight. Why have I packed on so much weight? Is it remotely common at all? Experiences? |

Re: I\'ve gained 40 lbs since August
Some people pack it on and fast. I weighed 215 when I got married in 2000. A year later, I weighed about 270 and stayed that way until 2003, when I busted my butt all the way back down to 185 by taking up serious running.
I've kept the weight off - well, most of it. I'm at 195 today, but I consider this weight to be ideal. The short of it - once you've weighed 185, you can weigh that again. It's just a matter of how much you want it - if you want it and committ to eating better and putting some serious time in the gym/treadmill/etc., you can do it, and the weight will fly off. And if you don't really care, it will stay on. The only way you're destined to be fat is if you don't care about being fat. If you do, you can take care of it and drop it as quick as you gained it. Good luck. |

I went to college at 155. Went to soph. year at 200. But people who pack it on fast often can lose it fast too.

Wow, I didn't think it was possible to gain that fast without trying to on purpose, or just eating ridiculously badly.

Pretty easy to gain that much weight, just cut down and exercise more.
