Apparently Phil Ivey was also aware of this tendency and punished Farha in two huge hands.

[/ QUOTE ]
How exactly did Ivey punish Farha in the first pot, when he got his money in being a 2:1 dog against a flopped straight? When your flopped straight is outdrawn, you're unlucky, not punished.

[/ QUOTE ]

1:2 is a dog against Phil Ivey.

So what is it about this show that causes everybody to play so tight? Something in the drinks? I mean I'm pretty sure Tony G doesn't typically open-fold KJ four-handed.

[/ QUOTE ]

I've only seen Tony G play uber-tight; this show, the "International Poker Challenge", Monte Carlo Millions, perhaps others I don't remember right now.

He likes to try to give off the impression that he is wild and reckless, by making a lot of huffing and puffing when he picks up good hands pre-flop and says he is raising to "punish" -- either limpers, or players who raise into his blinds, or whatever.

From what I've seen lately, I think the good pros have started to pick up on this.

His post-flop game seems to be nearly non-existant. Or well, it basically consists of folding any hand which doesn't hit the flop in a huge way.

Was anyone else shocked when , in heads up, Mike M. folded and oesd to just an $800 bet? The stacks were like 72thou-48. I wonder if he somehow misread his hand or the board or just acted too quickly.

Helmuth was willing to bet Bloch AK was favored over a pair of deuces until Ivey chimed in.

I actually questioned this move aloud. Then I realized only my dog was in the house. She was in the same room, though, so I wasn't acting completely crazy.

Did anyone else notice that "drug-free" Mike Matusow has an amazingly active runny nose?

It kills me to say it, but has Tony G become a better character since his early WPT days? It's actually fun to watch him discuss his strategies with the mouth this week.

[/ QUOTE ]

Everyone knows now that he's just doing the jerk act to get action cuz he's so tight. On the first WPT episode it seemed like he really was a giant ass.
