Default Game Selection

I like to play 25NL and 50NL but have never given much thought about table selection. In general, I start up poker office for a while spying on games where the average pot size is among the largest at that level and eventually sit down at a couple that don't have any TAGs on them. However, I read in Gordon's first book that in general you would want to sit at a table with plenty of loose-passive players who will see lots of flops but will quickly grow discouraged and toss their hands, because it lets you win a lot of small pots. So what are the optimal statistics to look for on a table in terms of VP$IP, avg. pot size, etc., and are there any other software products to help you locate the most profitable tables? Thanks in advance for any feedback.
