I play it the way you did. Im not so sure you are behind on the river. My guess is a middle pp.

the only pp that possibly makes sense and is behind is 99 and MAYBE 88 and both of these are VERY unlikely. Could be AT, but that is unlikely as well. I think this is AK, a J or TT+ 95% of the time.
