This is pretty bad.

[/ QUOTE ]

How?

I think this is a great play vs Hall.....

Hotmark could so easily have a 3 with how the hand is played out.

{quote]My thought process was the following.

Hall could easily have been barelling ace high to the river, or possibly a king or MAYBE ace king.

His bet made me believe that he was value betting the ace or might have actually been bluffing at the pot. I thought there was no way he could have a three and he couldnt call an ai check raise as 5-3 or even 43 could easily be one of my holdings. I also had enough money if he really did have a strong hand like two pair to possibly get him off it.

Anyone still think this is such a bad spot?

[/ QUOTE ]

so there's now $7850 in the pot and he only has to call $2250, getting almost exactly 3.5:1, and you think you have enough money to get him to fold 2pair?

[note: not necessarily criticizing the way you played it, just the particular claim i highlighted in bold.]

I think the range of hands villain can fold that Hotmark isn't already beating are K8-KQ. But I don't know much about Hall. If a weak Ace is in his folding range, then I like the play.

Actually, the more I think of this the better it becomes. The fact that some good posters chimed in made me think more, and yeah, I'm starting to like it more.

I don't like this particular play. I think he has a set, two pair or a straight and he ain't foldng any of these.

so ur default play is to call here with any ace? why is A6 any different than KT here? btw I'm on the fence about this only cuz villain is hall, against most players I like it a lot as a 3 is very believable for you
