Default cardio in the morning before you eat

i'm trying to lose fat, how important is this? other than my weight lifting regiment, i've been doing a half hour of cardio with my heart rate at 165-175 3 times a week on average. is cardio before you eat THAT much better for burning fat?

thanks

I'd think it would be the other way around.

eat and then do cardio? the idea behind doing cardio before you eat is that you burn fat instead of the food you just ate as energy. i'm mainly just asking if the effect is big enough that i should bother walking ot the gym in the cold while very hungry 3 or 4 times a week instead of doing it after i work out in the late afternoon.

The effect isn't that big. It's convenient for those of us that don't wake up hungry.

not a big effect.

but your heart rate is WAY too high for cardio. you're burning muscle instead of fat if you're up in that range for your entire workout. if you're in your 20's, shoot for the low-mid 130's

lol i won't... i'm 265 pounds and 6'3'' i'm pretty sure my standing heart rate is above 130. there's no way i could actually move on an eliptical or treadmill and keep it below 155.

Cardio in the morning, when you are trying to burn fat, "revs" up your metabolism, you burn a little more muscle than you might want too, but if your main goal is to lose fat, its very good. When Im cutting I do some sprints in the morning, basically until i get to a coffee shop near my house, I drink soem espresso, then I run home, your body is starved, but imo, getting your metabolism up, as long as you eat enough right after/throughout the day, its worth it.
