Default What to do with $300?

Is there any type of investment that will double $300 in a year or less?

Here is your non-snark answer. NO.

The transaction costs alone of buying and selling will be prohibitive if you are buying individual stocks. You may find some mutual funds with low minimums, but one year is not nearly enough time, even with the most aggressive investments.

Honestly, betting on black may well be your best strategy.

Doubling in a year will require a high risk investment. You should probably look at commodity futures or stock options. Keep in mind by going for such a high return you risk losing the 300K too.

That's almost a 50/50 bet, but you would be able to double within a few seconds.

If people could double their money within a year, everyone would invest in whatever it is. Over the past decades, the Dow/S&P500 returns somewhere between ~7% and ~10%. Even the average Home appreciation throughout the US is just over 6% I believe.

the crazy thing is that the roulette jokes are likely correct - find a 2:1 bet with the closes you can find to 0 ev and run with it. bbv could probably give you a hand with this

instead of roulette, go to the high stakes poker area and try to get someone to flip a coin--or prop bet on the color of flop; at least it'll be even money
