Four way preflop all-in, 2QQ+2JJ, odds?
Summer 2005 I played in a six handed game and experienced one of the craziest situations I've seen. Four all-ins preflop are rare, but it was the end of the game, so it's not that strange for a home game. Two players had queens, and two players had jacks. What is the chance of this happening in any random hand, or what tool is out there to figure the odds of this ever happening? On top of that the guy to my left won with a flush. Thanks

Re: Four way preflop all-in, 2QQ+2JJ, odds?
You should post this to the probability board if you want a real answer. But in general, the chance of any specific very odd thing happening is very low. However, the chance of some odd thing happening at some point is rather high because there are so many odd things that can happen. |

Re: Four way preflop all-in, 2QQ+2JJ, odds?
If I'm estimating properly, about 2.5B:1 ? Actually calculating it:
220:1 to have a particular hand- 52*51/2 then divided by 6 for the number of QQ hands originally available After the first QQ, the second QQ is 1224:1 The first pair of Jacks is about 188:1 after that. The last pair of Jacks is 1034:1 So, 221*1225*188*1034 is 52,626,774,199:1 if you only dealt four hands, I think, when the hands are in a specific order QQ, QQ, JJ, JJ. Not sure if you're supposed to divide by 24 here or not (for 2.2B:1) Guess I'd better check over in the egghead forum. |
