All media players on PC messed up

Well I noticed while trying to watch videos online the other day that the vid would play for a few seconds and freeze. This happens at youtube and also on sites w/ embedded windows media players. This morning I attempted to use iTunes and when i press play nothing happens the slide cursor stays put. I can skip it to various points but it stays right where i put it.

Any ideas?
