Default Party $11 QTs unraised pot

PartyPoker, Big Blind is t15 (10 handed) Converter on pregopoker.com

UTG (t605)
UTG+1 (t815)
MP1 (t1145)
MP2 (t650)
MP3 (t770)
CO+1 (t660)
CO (t1025)
Button (t880)
SB (t655)
Hero (t795)

Preflop: Hero is in BB with Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

Flop: (t60) 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (4 players)
SB checks, Hero bets t55, UTG calls t55, MP1 raises to t110, SB folds, Hero calls t55, UTG calls t55

Turn: (t390) T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players)
Hero checks, UTG checks, MP1 bets t275, Hero calls t275, UTG calls t275

Hero checks, UTG bets t205 (All-in), MP1 calls t205, Hero folds

I think I should go all in on the turn, but I actually felt I was beat, and I kinda wanted MP1 to keep calling...
And anyone calls the river?

I would definitely raise the turn. Unless MP1 flopped a set, you just caught up if you were behind, and even then you still have flush outs.

With that flop, your raise and his re-raise, I would have went all in right there. I admit I'm LAG, but you were probably way ahead and drawing way ahead. The only way he calls is if he has a set this early in the tournament.

What was the outcome?

Aloha,

Brian

That's what I'm thinking, too. UTG shouldn't call the 275 turn bet if he knows what he's doing. I should just forget about winning a bigger pot at that point and shove, which saves me a lot headache on the river.

You'd be betting 700+ for a pot of 270, which seems unneccessary. I'd rather have one more opponent in and a cheaper turn card...

The pot is already plenty big for me, and I don't mind taking it down.

I think a lot of value in this hand lies in its fold equity. On the flop you are a significant underdog to no single hand (except a set, and you still have flush outs against that, so you're never drawing close to dead).

I shove this flop because it can get a better hand to fold (queen with better kicker, although I doubt AQ is folding in an $11). Folding out a hand like KQ or QJ would be a great result. If I get called by a single opponent I will ALWAYS have either the best hand or the best draw (if they call with a higher flush draw they can't beat a pair of queens yet).

However, against several opponents staying in your equity could potentially go down a lot, especially if someone is hanging in with K-x or A-x clubs. If that were the case you would have BOTH the second best hand and the second best draw, which would be a terrible spot. This is a great flop for Q-T suited, but I prefer to end it on the flop or at least get it heads up.

I like the play up until the turn..I don't think that a call is terrible on the turn, but I like a push more...if you do call the turn...I have no clue as to how you folded this river... you almost definitely have MP1 beat and UTG probably either has about KQ or a lower 2 pair
